    • Readers will likely think of Mo Willem s Elephant and Piggie books when they read Okay, Andy by Maxwell Eaton III The two friends tell stories, have some adventures and get on each other s nerves in these short little comics The illustrations are large and simple with bold colors to catch and engage the reader s attention The text bubbles are big with oversize font telling the humorous stories with beginning reader vocabulary Okay, Andy is a perfect blend of picture book, easy reader and graphic [...]

    • Mo Willems territory Clever language use, for young readers Cute animals with kid snarky interactions I liked it But it s not special Willems can be special Sam and Dave Dig a Hole by Barnett and Klaasen is special But this is very likeable needs a little edge and snark to make me happy and so much of children s lit isn t that likeable to me.

    • Okay, Andy by Maxwell Eaton III is about an alligator and a coyote pup in the forest woods Andy is a very playful coyote pup and is always talking to Andy He seems like a very curious dog Alligator Andy wants to rest, while dog Preston wants to play tag This book is about an adventure Andy and Preston go on while Preston wants nothing else but to have fun with Andy. This graphic novel uses a lot of expressions, especially with Andy, to show emotions such as annoyance, tiredness, and irritation Pr [...]

    • Very reminiscent of Mo Willems, in a good way Also reminds me of Andy Griffiths Funny, short, sort of circular ending I m glad I read the GoodReads page because I couldn t figure out what kind of animal Preston was This book came cataloged from acquisitions as J Graphic Novel but we are considering changing it to Early Readers I just think it would fit in better with Elephant and Piggie and some other titles in there.

    • There are a few cute stories as two friends go about in life They play tag and other games There are a few words on each page with pictures to add to the story My six year old thought it was great that she could read the chapter book The words and pictures are simple and fun to follow.

    • This book is on the Little Maverick Graphic Novel list but I noticed that Follett classified it as an Everybody book but technically it could be both I am going to keep it with my graphic novels though It has chapters but only a few different words they really like the words Okay so it would be perfect for beginning readers Over all it was cute and appealing but not my favorite.

    • The author of the Max and Pinky books returns with a new duo, Andy and Preston Andy is an alligator and Preston is a young coyote The two of them make an unlikely team but one that works incredibly well for humor Preston often can t figure out what is really going on So when Andy is hunting a rabbit, Preston thinks it is a game of tag In the next chapter, Preston wants to take every thing they find, though Andy holds onto a stick for himself Andy is so distracted that he doesn t see the cliff co [...]

    • Full review at thebookshelfgargoyle.wordpressI received a digital review copy of this title from the publisher via Edelweiss in return for an honest review.Ten Second Synopsis Andy the long suffering, one would suspect alligator enjoys endures a close, personal acquaintance with coyote pup Preston, to the mutual benefit of both. This is a fantastic little graphic novel with super appealing illustrations While it s only a very short read, as most graphic novels tend to be, the three adventures inv [...]

    • Maxwell Eaton is the creator of the The Flying Beaver Brothers and the Evil Penguin Plan and other Flying Beaver Brothers adventures I loved those books so I was super interested in another title by the author While completely different from the FBB books, this was no less funny and entertaining.I ve seen this compared to Mo Willems Elephant and Piggy books, such as I m a Frog Quite the accurate comparison, as there s only dialog and illustrations to tell the story and the illustrations are done [...]

    • Maxwell Eaton IIIA fun book about a cranky alligator and a small coyote Andy, the alligator doesn t want to play or hang around with Preston the coyote, he wants to catch a rabbit Amusing antics with Andy looking everywhere except at the rabbit Some odd bear conversations as well Fun book to read to kids and get them involved in the story. This graphic novel uses illustrations and narrative in combination effectively The cover contains Preston the coyote and Andy, the cranky alligator The illustr [...]

    • I love this book I shared this with my 8 and 9 year old as well as with my twin toddlers, and they all loved it enough that they wanted to read it a second time The pictures are simple and not so cluttered that young children can t enjoy them The text is written in thought bubble style and is simple enough for even early readers to navigate on their own I particularly liked the unlikely friendship between the two main characters The story was simple, yet cute and purposeful I think anyone who ha [...]

    • The book Okay, Andy by Maxwell Eaton was very funny and comical Its about an alligator and dog who become the most unlikely of friends, even though they can barley stand each other They go and do things together even if the alligator Andy doesn t want the dog Preston to go with him to do these things Their still friends through everything. These characters are well rounded together and they change moods through out the story This teaches kids that the most unlikely of friends can do things togeth [...]

    • Our library system has this book classified as an easy reader, but I m calling it a graphic novel easy reader, since all of the pages consist of one or two panels with speech balloons The drawings are cute This is, after all, by the same guy that gave us the Flying Beaver Brothers series and the story is sometimes funny, but it s also quite tiresome Kids will definitely have plenty of opportunities to learn the word okay Kids might enjoy this once, but I doubt it would hold up to repeat readings [...]

    • This is a book that we picked out from the library I picked it for my son because I loved the illustrations and thought you might like the back and forth between Andy and Preston When we got home and I actually started reading the book to my oldest, I was afraid he would understand all the word play that was happening I m not convinced that he DID comprehend everything, but he laughed a lot, and that s why we gave the book 5 stars My son says that his favorite part of the book was SLURP read it [...]

    • Okay, Andy Is an early reader chapter book in graphic novel format Unlike most graphic novels, the font used is easy to read and includes Upper and Lower case letters a most for budding readers The story is okay, but it is goofy enough to engage and excite the new reader The illustrations are simple and very colorful. If you re looking to expand early readers in your graphic novel collection, this would be a solid addition.

    • I m close to giving this a 4, but it fell just short of that for me The illustrations are super appealing, and there are some great moments, particularly when a bear shows up in chapter 3 But many punchlines don t work There are good ideas here, they just aren t fully realized I am definitely reminded of Elephant and Piggie, but without the same natural, addictive quality of writing I hope Eaton continues using these characters because they have a lot of potential

    • This is a funny, fast read about two of the unlikeliest of friends Typical to stories such as this, there is one character who wants to do badly and another who is oblivious to everything the other character is really trying to do More is told in the pictures than is told in the words Good for all ages.

    • Absolutely delightful Andy and Preston inspire many laugh out loud moments This is a duo to watch out for The minimal text and complimentary illustrations make you want to soak up each page In fact, when I finished, I immediately went back to page one so I could go through it again I can t wait to recommend this to my 1st and 2nd graders.

    • A great early reader selection for younger elementary school kids This graphic novel book almost feels like a picture book with over sized illustrations, large speech bubbles, and repetitive but funny dialog Is this the beginning of a series Because I m pretty sure that my 1st grade boys will be asking for

    • I received a free copy of this book from Edelweiss in exchange for an honest review This in no way influenced my review This is such a cute book and it is very humorous It is great for any kid The illustrations are great and the storyline is simple, but entertaining.

    • This is a cute book except that it reminds me of Mo Willems Piggie and Elephant series which I like a little One difference is that this series has 3 stories in one Rabbit Games, Okay Andy, and ZZZ The illustrations are cute and the wording is very simple.

    • A beginning chapter book for new readers with bright, clean graphic spread, and little text Andy, a crocodile, and Preston, a coyote, have a unique friendship which is trying at times, like many friendships.

    • In this easy reader comic Andy the Alligator is on a mission to catch a rabbit for dinner, but a young wolf pup named Preston distracts and annoys him than helps him in his quest Funny, simple, tons of repetition to gain confidence, this title has it all Recommended for PreK 2.

    • My 1st graders will love the humor between Andy and Preston in what will seem like their first graphic novel with chapters.

    • We really liked this first chapter book graphic novel The story made us giggle and we liked the cute animal illustrations too.
