    • Well, I must have been living in a cave lately because I d never heard of retronaut and or mashable category retronaut The founder and curator of retronuat chose 300 photos for this National Geographic book that are guaranteed conversation starters I particularly liked the 1924 picture of the bolted and tied doors of King Tut s tomb before it was opened and the early 1910 Selfie of 13 year old Russian Grand Duchess Anastasia Nikolaevna You will want to study these pictures over and over because [...]

    • Oh, man what a fun book I checked it out of my library, but I m definitely adding this to my wishlist for purchase Retronaut is a book form collection of the best of the best photos from retronaut They are such fun The author has loosely grouped the photos by common themes I intended to pace myself, but I totally devoured this book over just two sittings Not only are all the photos so neat, but I learned many fun facts from the captions For instance, did you know that a book publisher in 1880s E [...]

    • Mostly a book of pictures, it is a great way to view the past Whether it is a picture of an automaton of a monk constructed in 1560 as an acknowledgment of an answered prayer, emoticons typed on a manual typewriter, a handbill for the first coffee shop in London touting the benefits of the drink as a preventative for ill humors in children, dropsy and scurvy or a painting in an old prayer book of the infant Jesus in a baby walker, there is always something fascinating to peruse. There are also ph [...]

    • Retronaut The Photographic Time Machine by Chris Wild National Geographic Society 2014 978.1 This is a collection of great retro prints from the bottomless archives of the National Geographic Society I carried away from this reading a couple of fascinating but utterly useless pieces of trivia first, that late 1970 s and 1980 s Ugandan dictator Idi Amin Dada actually held the following title Lord of All the Beasts of the Earth and Fishes of the Seas and Conqueror of the British Empire in Africa i [...]

    • This is the most uniquely formatted blog I ve ever read, but the manual scroll gets annoying after a while It doesn t seem to update either I put it as close to the wifi antenna thing like right on top of it thinking it wasn t downloading, but the thing just never updates I checked it like 10 times, and it s still stuck on page 351 I assume it s powered on because I can see the pictures.Anyone know if I m doing this wrong If not, I have to say Sorry old people, but books sort of suck.

    • Awesome gotta share book of unique and interesting photographs and ads of the past The collection he shares are not ones that I have ever seen before, minus a few, and his arrangement of the photographs ads are just as interesting Highly recommend this beautiful and fascinating book of photography.

    • Completely succeeds in its mission to change your attitudes and stereotypes of the past through rarely seen photographs Ultimately this concept is better suited to a blog because after going through this book once, I don t know that I d go back for another look.

    • Awesome look at history through old photos Katherine Hepburn skateboarding A photo of George Washington s fake wooden teeth Old technology in its prime, woo

    • Full of historical pictures that are enthralling to discover, or re discover One caveat, the dates aren t sequential, the book goes back and forth in time.
